Gift wrapping idea of the week: Cool gift wrap folding technique

When we’re taught how to wrap a present, we generally always fold the paper in the same way. But what would happen if we folded the paper another way…

Why we love it:
  • This is a great way of creating a secure little pocket to stash your gift card (which can so easily become detached from your gift at parties).
  • Using contrasting wrapping paper makes your gift stand out.
  • This method is nearly as easy to execute as the traditional gift wrapping method.
  • This is a great way of adding interest when wrapping a simple shape, such as a book, without having to spend more money on ribbon or other trims.

Gift wrapping idea of the week: Name beads

You’ve probably seen these letter beads used to create names on jewellery, but have you seen them incorporated into gift wrapping before?

Why we love it:
  • These name beads add the ultimate personal touch to a gift.
  • Thread them over twine or ribbon. It doesn’t matter if the ribbon is a little thicker than the beads and folds the ribbon – this makes the beads stand out more and adds to the look.
  • Use these beads on gifts for anymore – men, women or children or any age. White or cream beads with black text will coordinate with any wrapping colours.

Gift wrapping idea of the week: Kraft paper with yarn ball

Grab a ball of yarn, some kraft paper and a marker and have some fun with this idea…

Why we love it:
  • Lots of people would have yarn/string, plain paper and a marker lying around at home, so no fancy materials required
  • You’re only limited by your imagination, but if you’re stuck for ideas then this is a cool one.

Gift wrapping idea of the week: How to wrap home-baked goods

Home-baked goods are one of the nicest gifts to give people. They’re inexpensive and don’t need to take long to make. Present a home-made treat in some beautiful packaging and your recipient will be speechless. This is a great way of creating unique, personalised gift wrapping for food:

Why we love it:
  • It’s simple to make – simply iron a piece of tissue paper between two sheets of wax paper.
  • You can completely personalise this to suit your recipient – hearts work well for anyone. You could use masculine motifs/colours for a guy. I would love to try this using pressed flowers for a woman.
  • This type of wrapping can be used to wrap anything from cakes to biscuits and chocolates.
  • If you’re wrapping multiple items, such as biscuits, use a square piece of paper. Place biscuits in the centre and gather the corners together. Gather the paper into a bunch and secure with a ribbon  or twine.
